Casinos
If you thought cuddling by the fire and stargazing were the only post-sunset activities in Lake Tahoe, think again! Tahoe has a thriving and thrilling nightlife, and the area casinos are an integral part of it. No matter where you are staying in Lake Tahoe, you’re probably only minutes away from a casino with plenty of slot machines, blackjack tables, and rooms for the poker aficionado. If large casinos are your style, the South Shore is the place to be. Play your favorite slot alongside the breathtaking lake. Take in one of the daytime or evening events when you need a break. Many of the casinos in the South Shore are open around the clock, so you can take part in the fast-paced casino action any time you like. If you’re looking for a more subdued evening, you’ll find the casinos in Incline Village offer a more relaxed and laid-back vibe. Crystal Bay has several gambling establishments featuring musical entertainment and famous food. Even if gambling isn’t your thing, a visit to at least one of the area casinos is a must. You haven’t truly experienced Lake Tahoe until you’ve experienced it after dark!
Harrah’s
A true landmark on the Tahoe Strip, Harrah’s is likely the most popular casino in the area. The same people who operate Harvey’s and Bill’s also own Harrah’s, so one membership card will work at all three establishments. Aside from offering numerous gaming choices, Harrah’s also features live entertainment in the South Shore Room, the Vex Nightclub, and the Casino Center Stage. Some of the shows might be a little risqué for those who are more conservative, but not to worry. There are also musical performances, gravity-defying aerial acts, and great comedy shows to check out.
Harvey’s
Harvey’s is an absolutely massive casino, boasting 52,000 square feet of gaming space. With over 2,000 machines and 180 tables, this casino offers unparalleled choice and maximum gaming action. When you need to regroup, grab a latte from the Starbucks or Harvey’s other fine coffee shop. There are also four restaurants to satisfy your hunger, whether you need a quick sandwich or want to enjoy a lavish dinner to celebrate your big win. Check out the massive outdoor concert area behind the casino during the warmer months. Huge names like Sheryl Crow, Luis Miguel, Alan Jackson, and James Taylor have been known to perform on the Harvey’s stage, so you never know who you might see.
Horizon
Conveniently located in the center of the Tahoe Strip, the considerable Horizon casino offers plenty of gaming choice, featuring both slot machines and tables. The popular Aspen Lounge is often the site of live music and dancing, while the casino’s convention center periodically serves as a venue for concerts and other prominent events. This casino is the establishment of choice among movie buffs – the lower level of Horizon houses South Lake Tahoe’s only multiplex theater. Stop by after a day of gaming to check out the latest Hollywood hit and savor some fresh popcorn.
Bill’s Casino
It’s owned by the same company that operates Harvey’s and Harrah’s, but Bill’s is a much smaller establishment. Located in the center of the South Tahoe Strip, Bill’s offers plenty of gaming choice despite its small size. This casino is the perfect spot for those who love blackjack but don’t want to lose a bundle – inside you’ll find the lowest minimum bet tables in the area. Bill’s is Tahoe’s only 100% smoke-free casino, allowing non-smoking patrons to breathe easy while they play.
Lakeside Inn & Casino
A favorite among the locals, Lakeside is just a half a mile east of the Tahoe Strip. The Lakeside casino is a well-established business that’s been around for quite a while. It’s also the most accessible casino if you’re staying in a vacation home or condominium in the Kingsbury Grade area. During your visit, why not try the fare at Timber House Restaurant? Lakeside is also home to the Tavern Sports Bar. Open around the clock, this bar serves a variety of potables and boasts 32 televisions to let you experience the game in a whole new way.
Montbleu Casino
Formerly Caesar’s, the Montbleu Casino has the slots and tables you’d expect to find in a casino, as well as a few services and amenities you might not. Make a wager on your favorite sporting event or race – Montbleu offers pari-mutual wagering. If you’re not the gambling type, there’s world-class entertainment to enjoy, an amazing health spa where you can indulge your senses, and four impressive dining establishments. If you’re up for an all-night dance party, check out Nero, one of the hottest around-the-clock clubs in all of Tahoe.
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe
North Lake Tahoe’s largest casino also offers exquisite views of Lake Tahoe. Featuring a large gaming area, this shoreline casino is conveniently located in downtown Incline Village. If you’re staying in one of our Incline Village vacation rentals, chances are you’ll be just minutes away from the impressive Hyatt Casino.
Cal Neva
A local landmark of sorts, the Cal Neva boasts a rich and colorful history. This casino, built in 1926, was not only the very first licensed casino in the country, but was also once owned by ol’ blue eyes himself. Today it’s owned by Luna Entertainment, not Frank Sinatra. The Cal Neva has evolved over the decades into the lavish establishment it is today. Guests are sure to enjoy the ambiance here, as well as the Euro Day Spa, which offers indulgent specialty treatments for as little as $139.
Crystal Bay Club
With a history dating back to 1929, the Crystal Bay Club is a must-see Tahoe attraction. The casino got a major facelift in 2003, transforming it into an establishment offering something for almost every taste. The 30 plasma televisions in the sports book let guests experience sports wagering in a whole new way. Musical talents like The Iguanas, Eclipse, and Big Sams rock the stage in the Red Room three to four nights a week, and Crystal Bay’s steakhouse offers five-star luxury dining and fine dishes that are sure to please even the most discriminating palate.
Tahoe Biltmore
One of Tahoe’s most famous casinos, the Biltmore is a convenient drive from Incline Village. Well-maintained and inviting, the Biltmore features plenty of slots and table games for those who want to try their luck. Stop by during August for the Tail & Ale Festival – listen to impressive musical talents, sample ales and lagers from the microbreweries, and take part in an old-fashioned outdoor fish fry. If you’re planning a Tahoe wedding or other large event, the Biltmore has a 64,000 square-foot area that can comfortably fit up to 450.
Tahoe Nugget Casino
If you’re looking for some low-key gaming and a laid-back atmosphere, stop by the Tahoe Nugget, conveniently located on the main street of Crystal Bay. Featuring an architectural design reminiscent of a modern church, the Nugget houses 100 machines, including unique penny slots, and a variety of table games. While you’re here, sample some fries and a famous burger with all the fixin’s from Izzy’s Burger Spa.
